Soccer league based in McKerrow – welcoming North Shore Indigenous enthusiasts

By Rosalind Russell – The Baldwin Youth Soccer Development Club offers players born in 2012-2013 (boys and girls) a program to build skills, enhance conditioning and train for competitive play, including for the 2027 National Athletic Indigenous Games in Alberta.

President Coach Bob Rigby, has over 20 years of coaching experience and has been instrumental in developing over 10 Indigenous players who competed on Team Ontario at the NAIG in 2014 and 2018.

He says the new league home base will be at the Cpl. Glen Arnold Sport Field in McKerrow and will train at least two days a week from late May to late July.

Rigby adds additional training days will be considered, depending on registration with the hope of eventually also starting a winter indoor program later this year.

He says interested individuals can sign up on the Facebook page or contact the organization through the links,
