By Rosalind Russell – The Special Investigation Unit is investigating a fatal boat crash.
The SIU says at approximately 4:30 a.m. last Friday (June 7), OPP officers were called to a domestic disturbance at residence only accessible by boat on Nepewassi Lake.
The SIU says while on their way to investigate, the OPP boat was involved in a crash with another watercraft, with the 49-year-old female operator of the second boat suffering serious injuries.
Officials say she was taken to Sudbury hospital for treatment but later succumbed to her injuries.
There were no other injuries reported.
The investigation is ongoing.
