By Rosalind Russell – The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board has created a new Superintendent of Education focusing on mathematics achievement position, which will be filled this year.
According to the release, Franca Spadafora, currently the principal at Our Lady of Lourdes in Sault Ste. Marie, will take on the role as of July 31st.
The Ministry of Education has provided one-year funding to every school board in the province to hire a superintendent whose primary focus will be on informing, monitoring, and providing timely reporting of progress towards student math achievement and improvement targets. “
Spadafora will also be responsible for leading board-wide actions in math to meet targets outlined by the Ministry of Education and support the consistent and intentional implementation of high-impact instructional practices.
The new position was announced as part of finalizing the 2023-24 school year budget late last week.
