Tapping her way to a top finish in world competition – Elliot Lake dancer brings home gold

By Rosalind Russell – A 13-year-old girl from Elliot Lake has tapped her way to a gold in international dance.

Charlotte Parsons took part in the Dance World Cup in Prague, Czech Republic late last month, featuring over 9,500 competitors from 65 countries.

Her mother, Alison Byles, says her daughter was part of the Canadian team of 202 dancers.

She brought home a gold medal in Children Large Group Tap, fourth in Children’s Small Group Tap and a ninth-place finish in Children’s Hip-Hop Large Group competition.

Byles says it is an experience her daughter will never forget and extends a thank you to the community for all its support.

She adds Charlotte is continuing her dance career this September at DanceWorks in Elliot Lake, under the mentorship of Studio Director Christine Brunet.

Overall Canada came in third place in TAP division Children/Mini competition, 12th overall.
