The Fellow in Yellow is on the move – should arrive in Espanola area this week

By Rosalind Russell – A Nova Scotia man is walking across Canada on Highway 17, our area, on his way west.

Trevor Redmond is perhaps better known as the ‘Fellow in Yellow.’

He says his run is part of a personal mission to get Canadians all moving in mind, body, and spirit adding he is dressed in yellow to highlight health care.

Since leaving Halifax on March 26, he has covered over 4,200 kilometres on his way to the west coast.

His passion for physical and mental health wellness stems from a life-altering occurrence in his teens when he was struck by a car when he was 15 and nearly lost a leg.

Redmond says the incident happened just days before he would watch Rick Hansen’s Man in Motion Tour pass his home and it was Hansen’s dedication that inspired Redmond.

In 2006-07, he walked across Canada for cancer research, and later did it all over again, this time on a bicycle.

Now 53, he is walking from east to west once again hoping to establish his own charity and is expected to arrive in the North Shore Corridor this week, depending on weather.
