By Rosalind Russell – The Third Annual Drug Awareness Walk organized by the Espanola & Area Epidemic Awareness Committee is set for tomorrow in Espanola.
Committee co-chair Rosalind Russell says supporters are invited to meet at the Noojmowin Teg Centre at the intersection of Highway Six-Centre Street and Second Avenue at 11 am to participate in the walk from the centre to the Red McCarthy Memorial Ball Fields.
She says following the walk, there will be a demonstration on the use of naloxone, as well as free kits, speakers focusing on local services and supports available to the wider community, as well as a barbecue and information booths.
Russell adds the public is invited to attend, everything is free, but donations will be accepted to support the Espanola Helping Hand Food Bank.
She also notes that tomorrow is the International Day of Drug Awareness with the local event just one of hundreds being held across Canada and around the world.
