THREAT COMPLAINT LEADS TO FIREARMS CHARGES

(BALDWIN TOWNSHIP, ON) – A person on probation and a release order for weapons offences was arrested for assault with a weapon and firearms offences in Baldwin Township.

On March 7, 2023, at approximately 3:34 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment (Espanola) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a threat complaint at a residence on Highway 17.

During the investigation, police determined a person was assaulted and threatened with death. A firearm was also located by police and a cruiser was damaged by the person following their arrest.

Joshua FRASER, 33-years-old, from Baldwin Township was charged with:

·      Assault with a weapon

·      Utter threats to cause death or bodily harm

·      Failure to comply with Release Order other than to attend court

·      Fail to comply with Probation Order

·      Possess a firearm or ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order – two counts

·      Causing a Disturbance

·      Mischief under $5,000

 

The accused was released from custody following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear on April 17, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola.
