By Rosalind Russell – Angus Toulouse has won another term as the chief of Sagamok-Anishinawbek First Nation.
The election held on Saturday, saw Toulouse get 328 of the 790 votes cast.
Four other candidates had run for the Gimaa position, and 58 candidates ran for the 12 positions on council.
Under changes to their elections passed in 2023, Chief and Council will now serve a four-year term rather than the two-year term as in the past.
Toulouse brings several years of experience to the position having also served a past term as regional chief and pro-active on many councils including as chair of the North Shore Tribal Council.
