(ESPANOLA, ON) – A traffic stop on Haig Street leads to arrest and impaired driving charges in Espanola.
On April 1, 2023, at approximately 2:00 a.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop. It was determined the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages and they were subsequently arrested and returned to detachment for further tests.
Luca ROSS, 19-years-old, from Espanola was charged with:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and drugs
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
- Drive motor vehicle – No licence
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on May 15, 2023.
The Manitoulin OPP has laid 17 impaired driving charges in 2023. If you observe a suspected impaired driver, please call 911 immediately and report it.
